Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Where are you based?

We have an office base in Dublin 3 and an office in Wicklow but our work is mobile so we're all over Dublin city.  We also cover nearby areas in Meath, Wicklow and Kildare.

Q:  I have a large car.  Do you have a different price for large cars?

No.  All cars are charged at the same price although we do have a separate price for jeeps and people carriers. (€10 extra)

Q:  I live in an apartment.  Do you need access to water?

No.  All of our units carry their own water and power so all we need is space to work.  A driveway is usually plenty.

Q:  I don't have a driveway.  Is that a problem?

No.  If you don't have a driveway and your car is parked on the street, we'll do one of three things.  We'll work on the street, (provided it's quiet, there's space and we don't block traffic), we'll move the car to a quiet area nearby or we'll move the car free of charge to our workshop in Leopardstown.

Q:  Do you have insurance?

Yes.  All of our drivers are comprehensively insured.  We also have Public Liability Insurance in place.

Q:  Can I have a vat receipt?

Yes.  Once a job is finished we issue a vat invoice on the spot.

Q:  How can I pay?

We accept payment by Mastercard, Visa, Laser, Business Cheque, Personal Cheque and Cash.  Credit accounts can only be set up by prior arrangement.  Call 1850 202 111 for an application form.

Q:  I'm selling my car.  Which is the best valet to go for?

Generally if someone is selling a car, we recommend that it has the Shakespeare (full) valet as this is the one that takes the car back to as reasonably close to new again as you'll see it.  It could potentially add up to 1000 euro to the re-sale value of the car, although this is obviously dependent on the type of car and it's age.

Q:  Do you take the seats out to wash them?

No.  It's not necessary.  All of our equipment has plenty on nozzles and adjustments so that we don't have to remove the seats.

Q:  I have leather seats.  Does that mean that they can't be shampooed?

We don't shampoo leather, but in the Shakespeare Valet we offer a leather care treatment system.  This does two things: it cleans the leather and it also keeps it supple so that as it ages, it doesn't start to crack.

Q:  I have stains on my seats.  Will you be able to get them out?

Most stains will come out but it's almost impossible to remove an oil-based stain and we've discovered that Lucozade is permanent.  So it really depends on what has caused the staining and how long ago it happened.  With dairy products, the stain itself will probably come out, but there could be a problem with the smell in the vehicle.  Dairy products and bodily fluids( blood, urine, excrement, vomit) may cause a bacterial problem if they are not treated quickly.  We will endeavor to do our best by disinfecting the problem area and airing the vehicle but the customer must understand that no guarantees can be offered.

Q: I have some scratches on my car.  Will you be able to get rid of them?

It depends entirely on how the scratches were caused.  If it is minor scratching from bushes and hedges then it is likely that they will come out in the process of a normal valet.  Similarly if another car has rubbed against yours and left its paint on your car, then it should polish off.  However, if the scratches have gone through your paintwork to the extent that you can see the white undercoat beneath, then no amount of polishing will put paint back where there is none.  The more serious scratching that has not gone as deep as the undercoat can be repaired in our special compounding process.  This takes a full day's work in our workshop (due to the mess it creates and the equipment needed) and is significantly more expensive.  Prices start from 500 euro.

Q:  There's concrete/paint on my car.  Can you get that off?

Removing concrete/paint from a car is a specialist job.  The process takes a full day and needs to be done in our workshop because of the equipment required and mess it creates.  Prices usually start at approx. 480 euro + vat.

Q:  The paint on my car is very faded.  Can you restore it?

If it's very faded, the compounding process (described above) would be necessary.  This wouldn't be covered in a normal valet.  However, any car that is polished will look significantly brighter and deeper in colour than before.
